About Us

Our staff & volunteers

We are a small but powerful team of 20 that work hard to make profound impacts in Zimbabwe and Uganda.

Our history

We feel passionate about being called to Africa. We've had a burden on our hearts to serve those that are vulnerable and shine a light on how people can join together to make a difference, even across the world!

With a spirit filled heart, and a desire to make a difference, God has used our skill sets to impact lives profoundly...for those under our care...and those around us.

Our mission

Tanaka is a Shona word from a Zimbabwean tribal language meaning 'we are blessed.' We do our best to see life through the one who has blessed us, Jesus. In very small ways, we attempt to listen and obey God as we work to follow his example of supporting vulnerable women.

Tanaka’s purpose is to empower and support vulnerable youth, including street children and young women affected by gender-based violence, in Uganda. Through projects like the *Path of Hope*, Tanaka provides resources such as shelter, medical care, legal support, and a safe environment to help these individuals heal and build stable, hopeful futures. The organization is committed to transforming lives and fostering resilience in communities in need.
