In July we have seen God's hand visibly at work and ask for your prayers and support as lives are transformed and hope spreads.
The walls of Path of Hope have echoed with both tears and laughter this past month. A barely teenage mother arrived, three expectant girls sought refuge, and one survivor came to us after enduring unimaginable abuse, a forced abortion and even a high speed chase seeking her life. Each story is heavy, yet each life is sacred — and here, they are beginning to feel safe, loved, and seen. In July we rushed girls to hospitals, carried out rescues and cried in the corner with girls who just needed someone's presence.
In the midst of this intensity, God sent a team from the UP of Michigan. With paintbrushes and joy, they transformed a corner of the dorm into a beautiful play space — a sanctuary where girls can laugh, play, and remember what it feels like to be children again. We are humbled to be a reflection of Jesus to these hurting hearts. Please, keep us in your prayers and stand with us in this work of restoration. tanakaglobal.org/donate
God is opening doors in extraordinary ways! We've launched 12 new village trainings — every one is full. In one village, the hunger is so great that even Muslims are pleading to join, despite the class already overflowing. Another class will soon begin there, because hearts are eager for the gospel and God's way of living. We've been invited to teach at marriage and youth conferences, to celebrate weddings shaped by God's design, and soon we'll travel far north to partner with a ministry reaching deep into their communities. This is disciples making disciples — lives transformed and hope spreading.
We are rejoicing after the government's official opening of Mukisa Ministries — a powerful affirmation of our work in the district. Each morning 80 children still gather for breakfast and devotions. We are also making repairs and painting in preparation for the busy school break ahead.
This break will bring our very first Boy's Conference! Please pray for these young men — future leaders, fathers, and husbands — as they learn to lead through Jesus' example of servanthood, integrity, and strength against temptation. We will have the added expense of feeding 80 young men over these 3 days of conference, so if you feel led to help cover those costs please visit tanakaglobal.org/donate.
Our sponsored children have been studying diligently and will soon begin a one-month holiday. While we celebrate their hard work, we also carry them in prayer as they return to unstable homes. May they shine as the light of Christ, remain safe, and continue to walk in His truth even outside the classroom and come back in September ready to finish the final term of the year!
Thank you for your faithful prayers for Ken! His student visa was miraculously granted, and he is now serving 21 days of quarantine outside Uganda so he can enter the U.S. in time for school. We continue to pray that the CDC will lift restrictions now that Uganda has been declared Ebola-free. Please also pray for safety on Ken's and my (Sarah) journey and for protection over everyone remaining at home with sitters. Your prayers and support mean more than words can express.
We are so very grateful for your love, support and prayers! May God bless you!
With love,
